End of Year

Well, hello there. I'm so happy I finished Mixdown (which is now called Cumberstminute). Its name comes from the idea that the first minute is a bit off rhythm, a bit too dragged (Cumbersome + First + Minute). But after that, it gets better and better. I just hope I am right.

Anyway... I couldn't pull the Christmas song off third basement. It's a shame. But hey, Next Year it is.

So now, if you want to listen to my songs, check my soundcloud page (<-click there). MIDI is already available.

And that's it. Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year :D

Plans pt2 - december

I'll try to record D25th in the next week, since it's holidays and I finally have time to waste on recordings.

I'm going to put My Intimate Device and I (previously called "Untitled v2") available whenever possible. It's a dance-y music. You can actually dance and feel happy about it. Maybe I'll put some vocals on it, maybe not. Depends on the time.

Wednesday, 7 December 2011

My plans to this month:

D25th - Reach 4th Basement
Daisy - Rearrange; Reach 4th Basement - better version / different lyrics version (to my grandma and my second cousin who was born a month and 7 days ago).
December (1st Basement thing) - Develop idea

(also plans but it's strictly necessary to finish these ones)

Remix of 'Mixdown', a song of a colleague of Musical Creation and Composition.
Untitled V2, a House (style) song.

Thursday, 24 November 2011

I guess I should stop planning and dreaming. I should concentrate on the things that I'm supposed to do. I should. But I'm a constant daydreamer.

Eventualities EP

I'm thinking of delaying the production of Flashback Flaws (FbF). Instead of working on FbF, I'm going to work on a smaller record, 5 or 6 track EP. It will be called Eventualities. I'm already thinking about its setlist, I'll revel to you someday soon.

This way, 'Flashback Flaws' and 'Sonhos e Histórias sobre Amor Aniquilante' (lyrics-in-Portuguese album) will be delayed severely, I guess. Sorry if I let down some expectations.

X-mas song

I'm composing a christmas song. I got two chords together and add some jingle bells (the instrument, not the song) to gain the spiritual vibe. It's getting direction and it feels right. hope to record it till christmas.

Live Without: Vocal Recording

As you may already know, I'm working on the video footage I took of me singing to Live Without. I'm not liking the Adobe Elements 8.0 so far. And it's giving me a little depression because I can't get anything right. Oh Well...

Friday, 30 September 2011

Haven't updated a thing. On facebook, twitter or this very own blog. Well, wait no longer. I'll play live on the internet in October 8. Hope you're glad, 'cause I'm already nervous.

I've been working on a song that isn't on the album. It's an old composition, so what I'm doing is "translating" it into Guitar Pro. Got some ideas together, a thought about what to write. It was last night, late last night. And then the title came in: Insomnia. It drove me to write some parts of the song (lyrically speaking) as I suffer a lot of this problem. It's about the difficulty to sleep and after you try so much, you remember sad things of your life, but then you happily fall asleep. A melancholic mood on the guitar, a simple glockenspiel, a Rhodes repeating chords and a quiet Bass so far. Hope it does better

Paint and Special Flaws

I've been amused, playing with paint. Felt like a little kid again, but all the covers are completed now. Oh Yes, the A Cappella, Silly Beard and Beach Native are done (i'm not talking about the songs, sorry). They're basic: just the name, colour, the bisnVV logo, etc. For a future release of course (this one will be ninja style)

Remix ! & Virgin Version . [15/10]

Promotion of 15/10
These two will be the album covers of Remix and Virgin Version. But won't be physical records. I'll send the 4 songs, and 2 images. If you're using Windows Media Player, all you have to do is drag the images to the respective albums. I don't know how to do that in other programs, but I think that if you go to the information of the song/album and add the image, it's done.

("Forth Basement'ly speaking")

1. Fat Bloody Fingers - To be Corrected
2. Warn The Bitch - 40% (Voice Missing, [some] Instruments Missing, Mixing Missing)

Virgin Version
1. Live Without - 80% (Voice Missing)
2. Viva La Flesh - Corrected (100%)

Rio sharped my pencil

Just watched Rio. I always loved the rhythm and energy of samba, but this time I made my mind clear: I want to write a samba song. And I managed to get a samba rhythm in guitar pro and find some old composition of mine to see if it suited. Sharp your pencil's original rhythm turned Samba and so did the song. I'm happy and motivated to work on it.

I'm currently making second part for Warn the Bitch. It gets strange.

Break / Day Closure

I think I'm going to stop a little with my youtube account. Get the Flashback Flaws done and then get back to my fans. I need to get this record finished, I think it's a thing I have to achieve first.

I'm worried about Sharp your pencil, Piggy Bunker, Oh God (Why does my heart fly?) and Warn the Bitch. And that's almost half of the album.

I want Sharp your pencil to be fun, high spirits and optimistic.
Piggy Bunker to be melancholic, maybe a bit dramatic and drastic.
Oh God (Why does my heart fly?) to be a passionate song, naive, happy.
Warn the Bitch to be the darkest song of the album.

5 minutes after I wrote this things you see up there:

I can fit Oh God (Why does my heart fly?) in a melody I composed last night. Hope this gets along.

1. Shipwreck On Solitude - 2/3 Basement
2. Piggy Bunker - 2/3 Basement

I'm on a train right now
The images are blurred
The pressure is high
But the feeling is right
I'm coming home

The view from a dirty window
Tells me I am wrong
Maybe I belong somewhere else
Or maybe I don't
Maybe I'm coming home

The sun is coming down
The train is going south
My love is at my left
And the feeling's right
I feel like I am home

The Moon is rising up
The sunshine is disappearing
The Stars are born and the sky is dead
So is the line of this train
I am finally home

FBF RMX Footage

If you don't already know, my hands shake a lot. Really. That is something you will see in the video of Fat Bloody Fingers' Remix. All the footage is a bit shity... But it'll be in the video anyway. That was a great day (21/08 - Sunday), we had a goo laugh, some frenz-time, but who cares? I mean, it's not "commercial", that won't allow my videos to be liked or loved. I'll do my best, but you're warned. Thank you for your patience.

Is there anybody out there?

Yes, for the hipsters, I am quoting Pink Floyd. But I'm giving you the chance to comment on my posts. I insist. As a test, you can decide in the comment page of this post, which will be name I call to you, fans (because "fan" is a 'slutty' name, with no offense). For exemple, Ein Astronaut call their fans "Space Invaders" (which was a 80's, 90's game, not quite sure). Since I'm giving you my name, Vasco Vilhena, instead of an astronaut, you can choose your general name related to something you do in your daily routine. I'm just giving ideas. But they're your choice. See you quite soon. [End of the Day]

Filming day / Yesterday

Today I went on a little road trip to Évora. It was a friend's birthday and we seized the opportunity to take some footage to the "Fat Bloody Finger" 's Remix Video. It's basically roads, cars and me walking down the street. I hope it gets the shape I'm idealizing.

Yesterday at 0.00 am (or today.. Dunno) the poll about a song's name was closed. It was decided by 7 fans against one that Warn The Bitch is the winner.

Saturday, 20 August 2011

Well, since I have a new computer, I decided to to install Guitar Pro 6 version. Hope it works with me.

Wednesday, 17 August 2011

Ballad of the Baldman

Have fun :)

New Pc

Yesterday I bought a new computer. A Samsung RF511-s01pt. It's the computer that will follow me around and help me doing stuff. Musical Stuff. I'm pretty excited, it's the first computer that I fully own. (the time has come)

FBF RMX by bisnVV / bisnVV

Find more songs from Vasco Vilhena in Myspace's Music.

So there you go. Fat. Bloody. Fingers. from 'bisnVV'

I pass to explain. I call bisnVV a twisted personality of mine. It's happy, a freak, a lunatic, whatever. But he does some pretty good shit.

Piano 2 / Moving to Lisbon

So, I went to a store monday. not a normal store: it's intitled "Music Factory". It's a friggin warehouse. Their slogan is "please touch everything" which I fulfilled with pleasure.

Found out a better piano then the other yamaha I talked about last post. It's a Rolland HP 302

So, I'm almost moving to Lisbon. I was admitted in the course in which I applied. I went to an interview, this same monday, and it was successful. In two years I'm going to be a 'Sound Engineer'. Meanwhile, I'll have piano lessons, singing lessons and percussion lessons. Dunno if i take guitar lessons too, to improve my tecnique or whatsoever...

Saturday, 30 July 2011

piano - I'm buying one

thinking about buying a Yamaha YDP-161. hope it's good

Viva La Flesh

So... This one is pratically finished. I sent the 'bass-less' version to a friend of mine to record it and send it back to me (yeah, this one includes some exclusive 'collab').

Meanwhile, I'm having a concert tomorrow (with my Philharmonic Band - I'm part of the percussion) and I barely know what to play. I blame my vacation.

Anyway... I'm trying to keep myself busy. And trying to get the less nervous to the interview (on monday). kiss'n'hugs

1st VideoSong

As soon as I can, I'm going to record Dead End, a song of mine. It'll be my very first VideoSong - I hope - , and if this computer lets me, I will upload it via youtube when it's done. It's only a matter of time 'till I have the camera at hand. God, I really hope this computer helps in the process... (just so you know, Dead End is already at 3rd basement)

Back from vacation

Hello again. I should go to sleep, I still haven't rested a bit.

But here's the situation: I'm going to record Fat Bloody Fingers (or. version) - no videosong - , finish Live Without and Viva La Flesh - no videosong either - , achieve 3rd basement with Ballad of the Baldman - and sorry, but no videosong too. I'm thinking about recording Flashback Flaws (the album) with no dependency on VideoSongs (I'll show you the setlist for the album in the following post).

QUESTION! I don't know what name to give to a song. I've got 2 possibilities. Warn The Bitch and Game Over Track. Answer here, please. You can add more possibilities, but those are the main choices. Only if you come up with a master name. Thanks in advance.

These are the lyrics:

For my appeasement I’m playing alive
And you’re buried deep down dead
We conspire all the rules of this fucked up game
While you wish you were not obliged to play

Misguiding thoughts of a ready trigger
Oblivious souls trying to be misunderstood
This bitch ate an idea inventor
Hey Witch, You are not allowed to play

The rumour of a lunatic grand-escape
Leap of Irony to the ground
Faith’s licking fat bloody fingers
Which you are not allowed to play with

Go home and warn the bitch
Come out to play after she disappears
Faith and Death will spare her no longer
With knives we’re not allowed to play with

Post Scriptum

(this was the last day of non-vacation)

Today I went up to schedule an interview to attend one course during the next year. There are only 14 open places so it's going to be a bit hard to 'seduce' the interviewer. The interview is going to be on 1st August right after I come back from vacation. Maybe I'll give you news while I'm on vacation.

See you next time (for real)

Day Off

Hi there.

I know it's late, but I could only reach you now. I took the day off to buy a gift to my sister (a guitar [Shh, don't tell her]), her birthday's in a few days.

And since I'm posting, I'll tell you I'm going on vacation with my family for a half month. I know, I know... It's stupid that I created this yesterday and going on vacation the day after.
Anyway, I really need some time off the responsabilities, I had a hell of a year, and my future is not so certain (I'm doing the best I can, seriously; I'm sure I'll get through).

So, a short Arrivederci to you, guys.

Day 1 - The End of the Beginning

Today I created this blog, a Facebook Page and a Twitter Page.
Reached third basement in Fat Bloody Fingers, as you already know.

I guess it's the end of this day. 'Até amanhã' (See you tomorrow in portuguese)

Let's Talk In Code

I was thinking about the ways I can reach to you about the development of my songs. I've already made clear that there are like 4 degrees of songs development (in my head, in instruments, in guitar pro 5 and in Ableton Live), but I didn't specify the possibilities of situations that can happen. I'm going to make some things clear:

First Basement
    • Ideas for lyrics/melodies, based in movies, other songs, things that happen daily, etc.
    • One/Two line lyrics (some sentences that sound cliché and make me feel like they need to belong to some awesome lyrics)
    • (lonely) Chords or Rhythms that sound beautifully even if they're alone.
    • Possible Titles of songs (which gives me a lot of inspiration to begin writing)
      Second Basement
      • Full (but single) Melodies, Rhythms, Riffs and whatever, that seem to have future.
      • Full Lyrics (but still have the possibility to be changed because of the metrics) - Includes Titles too.
      • In development songs in Guitar Pro.
        Third Basement
        • Finished songs in Guitar Pro.
        • In development songs in Ableton Live.
        • Funished songs in Ableton Live that don't please me (And you can bet that I'm perfectionist).
        Forth Basement
        • Finished songs in Ableton Live (that I'm pleased with, obviously)

There, this will be easier this way.

While writing this post, I reached the Third Basement in Fat Bloody Finger's (original version)

        Remix Fat Bloody Fingers

        So, the remix is done.
I'm gonna get some visual apresentation for the remix and as soon as I can, I'm gonna upload it to youtube.

        This is the Beginning

        Hi there.
I know fans will only come when results are shown. But I will begin this way anyway.

So, I'm beggining now, I'm creating accounts through youtube, google (I'm not giving you my email for now, sorry), blogspot, twitter, etc. (I guess I didn't miss anything). Soon I will post a Remix of one of my Songs, 'Fat Bloody Fingers', which was originally born when I was playing around through Ableton Live. I created a bass line, some crazy beats and got some lyrics to read along. So that's the way 'Fat Bloody Fingers' was born: the Remix came out before the original version (crazy, huh?). And that's what I'm doing right now in guitar pro 5. I'm finishing the plan for the final product of this song.

I'm going for the song again.
        See you guys later.
